We had the pleasure of hosting the Dalton family for the long holiday weekend, and it was such fun to catch up, explore Charlottesville, and generally spend a few days eating, drinking, and laughing.
On Friday night we headed to Adventure Farm, where they have a band, food truck, wine, space for the kids to run, and spectacular sunsets. It happened to be Tonya's birthday as well, so we enjoyed a fire pit and homemade Dr. Pepper birthday cake (my own random invention in honor of her favorite beverage) once we got home that evening.
Saturday dawned warm and humid, so it was a perfect day to spend at the pool. The kids had fun swimming and Luke ate his weight in popsicles. That night we left our eldest in charge of the crew (and they decided on a Harry Potter movie marathon) while the grown-ups went out. Cocktails at the Alley Light, dinner at Red Pump, and some more drinks and music at The Bebedero and the old folks had reached their going-out quota for the year!
Sunday took us to the Polo match at King Family Vineyard, where we got to try out our new canopy tent (perfect for tailgates), watch the game, enjoy some lunch from Greenwood Grocery, and spend the afternoon with a few thousand of our closest friends. Or at least other people with the same great idea for how to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I couldn't let them leave without some updated family photos, so we snuck in a session just before the skies opened up. That evening we grilled steaks and ended the festivities with s'mores.
A jam-packed weekend of friends and food and fending off crazy three year-old boys, but so much fun!
